Jade Goody, who was born on June 5, 1981 in Bermondsey, London, was a reality TV celebrity. Although she appeared on the TV drama “London’s Burning” by age 5, it wasn’t until she joined the Big Brother house in 2002 that her celebrity status went an all-time high. Before she became a UK celebrity, Jade Goody was a dental nurse.
In 2002, she joined the cast of ‘Big Brother 3’ and became a tabloid favorite due to several incidents in the house concerning drunkenness, backstabbing and lack of knowledge for her native geography. The viewers and press eventually came to love Jade Goody, making her one of the most popular contestants that season and helping her survive eviction.
After leaving Big Brother, Goody was given her own reality TV shows – "Jade's Salon" in 2005 and "Jade's P.A." and “Just Jade" all in 2006. From 2003 to 2005, Jade appeared in over a dozen TV shows, including "Celebrity Driving School," "Boys and Girls," "RI:SE," "Tabloid Tales," "Wife Swap," "Astounding Celebrities," “Liquid News,” “Back to Reality,” “Big Brother Panto,” “I’ll Do Anything to Get on TV,” “UK Radio Aid,” “What’s the Problem? With Anne Robinson,” “Death of Celebrity,” “The Wright Stuff,” and “Kelly,” among others. She has also graced numerous gossip-oriented magazine covers, such as Ok! and Heat.
2006 was a busy year for Jade. After participating in the London Marathon and raising £550 for her charity – the NSPCC, Jade Goody also released her autobiography entitled “Jade: My Autobiography” and her own fragrance called “Shh…Jade Goody.” She has also been writing for a weekly column for Now Magazine until November 2006 and has released five fitness DVDs – “The Big Brother Collection: Jade’s Dance Workout/ Dance Workout with Helen Adams and Latino Dance Workout with Nadia” in 2002, “Jade’s All New Diet” in 2003, “Jade” in 2004, “Jade’s Workout/The Girls from Big Brother” in 2004 and “Jade’s Shape Challenge” in 2006.
On January 2007, Jade Goody joined the “Celebrity Big Brother” with her mom and boyfriend Jack Tweed, but was evicted earlier on the show. She then released a cookbook entitled “Christmas Dinner with Jade Goody.” In 2008, Goody joined the Big Brother Indian version “Bigg Boss,” but left after two days when Jade discovered she had cervical cancer. That same year, she released another autobiography entitled “Jade: Catch a Falling Star,” appeared on a one-episode special documentary “Living with Jade Goody” and starred the film “Jade’s Cancer Battle.”
Jade Goody married Jack Tweed on February 15, 2009. She died on March 22, 2009 and is survived by two sons Bobby Jack and Freddie. On April 2009, Digital Spy named Jade Goody as “The Ultimate Reality TV star.”
